I follow a simple rule of thumb....

If a relationship with a girl leaves you feeling more confused than confident, then it means that she's really not into you.

You will hear this word so much...communication. And it is the grease that lubricates the flow of the relationship. Talk to her and listen to her. It may seem too obvious and even too gutsy but really just tell her what you're interested in, what you want in the relationship. It doesn't have to be completely directed at her, maybe in a more general sense but letting her know what you're looking for will help her to understand where she stands too. You're the guy and are expected to be confident and the one to initiate the relationship framework, like will it a just friends (and it should always include being friends), a fwb situation, an exclusive relationship, or something else. It obviously has to be friends first, at least liking one another, so that's the place to start. If you want to kiss her, tell her. How that goes may help you know what she wants. A big part of reading another is watching them, especially facial reactions and body language. Study some body language sites to get some ideas on this and then pay attention. Be nice, be polite, but be the leader.

Take action. Own the situation if you don't understand it. Don't know where you stand? Kino, get close, and go for the kiss. If she doesn't kiss back or gets distant, then you know where you stand.

How do you know what time it is if you don't have a watch? You ask. Now simply asking a girl what "our situation is" can be awkward if not put in the right context.

But there's clues you can pick up on (just like telling time). Is it bright and bluish outside? Probably morning. Does she smile at me when we make eye contact or smile at her? Probably in a good spot.

You just need to stick yourself out there to figure it out. Reach out for her hand, hug her for longer than usual.
