That's a good question. One that I've honestly spent a lot of time thinking about lately so forgive me if this reply is long. To start, in high school I was a pretty quiet kid. My best friend was this obnoxious loud mouth that most people didn't like because he would overstep the boundary of humor into just being mean. Because of that, most people asked me why I was friends with him because I seemed like a nice guy and this guy was an ass. Honestly I just thought he was funny as hell. Anyway because I was associated with him other groups didn't invite me to things despite being well liked in a variety of circles orchestra/art/athletic/etc. After graduating high school and really putting in work to better myself I now realize how I could have increased my social status. First of all, I should've stopped hanging out with that kid but if you don't want to do that that's fine but you should ponder over what a 15-18 girl VALUES. High school is all about value, think "how can these people benefit by inviting me to things?" That's why the rich kid who throws the parties is usually popular despite looks/attitude/any redeeming qualities. So in order to break into this circle you have to devise a plan of action, yes a plan because most of these people have known each other almost their entire lives so becoming one of them is going to be a process. If I were you I would befriend one of the guys in the "cool group" as I'm sure at least one of them is in one of your classes. Try to figure out what he likes mutually, you can pretend to be interested as well but that makes it more difficult. Twitter and especially Facebook are useful tools to find interests. Then just casually ask him one day if he's seen X show or X game or played X game on the ps4 or whatever. That will spark a conversation which will build a relationship. Observe how his friends act and try to be like them. Watch how he acts and reacts to things and copy that. While doing this try and figure out what else you can do for him, can you throw a party? Can you get alcohol/weed? Can you introduce him to sexy girls you know some how? What can YOU offer? Once you do all of this I'm sure he will invite you somewhere or you can just ask casually what he's doing and ask him to hangout or try and invite yourself to hang out (in a non needy way obviously). That's how I would go about getting into that circle. For those who think that what I'm saying goes against "pick up" ideology, I know it does. But in high school when you develop belief in yourself you still won't be invited to parties. Obviously working on your core confidence and purpose are better long term solutions. I hope that at least gives you ideas.
