Go out to a smaller music festival with a couple of bars nearby in an affluent area, which equates to numerous groups of high quality women/people walking around. Went out with the intention of enjoying myself, not really meeting anyone, then I saw a couple of cute girls walk around and something inside me pushed me to get up from watching the concert, so I did for an hour or two to see how things went.

Saw a blonde alone, walking the perimeter of the concert and meandering around, shorter hair, almost all black style, told myself if I saw her three times I'd get up and go say "Hi" and see what she's like, got up, but I couldn't find her to say "Hi". OH WELL.

Go back and sit down, see a few other pretty girls walking, then a group with three girls and a guy walking with one of them. Haven't approached a group in awhile so I was deliberating a lot here. They left three or four times before I decided to get up and talk to them. Anyways, I walk around some more, get asked for directions, then see a girl and her friend who looked to be shopping. I thought to myself "If I want to see how I'm doing with groups I should start out small" and went to say "Hi", there was essentially a fat girl who we'll call "Mama Bear" and her gorgeous blonde friend "Goldilocks". Walk up in front of them, pivot from behind and open over my shoulder and point to Mama Bear and ask her to come to me for two seconds, rejection in compliance they both seem extremely skeptical, I qualify my request with something like "It's not anything weird or bad, it's actually quite good, but I don't want your friend to know" and eventually after she rejects that I come in closer and whisper that I wanted to meet her friend because I thought she was cute. Mama Bear says "No... she's good" and I instantly eject because of the cockblock her friend would be even if I attempted to start interacting with Goldilocks.

Feedback: That style of open has worked in the past because it can be very efficient, but I wasn't really addressing the group, but just the fat friend who was probably 1) Jealous 2) Not Goldilocks. Therefore I can't know if Goldilocks was really interested or not because I never talked to her. I probably should have socialized with the two of them more than immediately went in to try and snag her friend, (e.g. introduction, what they're up to) and qualified the group with something like "You two are cooler than I thought you were going to be" and started rapport building with Goldilocks. Either way, it was a single rejection by some fat chick, essentially worthless.

Went back to watch the music, saw the group again, they walked past and I moved to the area they were in, continued watching the concert near a bar's door, family wanted me to take a picture, end up seeing a girl in a dress that caught my eye so I catch up to her naturally and am honest about wanting to meet her. We look at each other and smile, then I basically state that I wanted to meet her, introductions, what she's up to, which was being lost finding her car, so she tries to excuse herself, but I stay around and rapport build some, and she excuses herself, a little more flustered. And I do so because it's just getting weird to stay around at that point because she didn't want to talk.

Feedback: Approached again, decent open, pretty standard interaction but she was unreceptive, which should equate to a pass on your end, just eject and go on with your night.

While I'm walking back I see that damn group again, but minus the guy, so I rationalize I've approached three girls before and been successful, let's give it a try. I instantly sense the leader of the group giving me the eye contact after I start speaking so I basically am talking to her, "Hey, you all look familiar from like 10 minutes ago, I thought your blonde friend was cute and wanted to meet her." she tells me she's married and I glance at her finger and it SEEMS she has a ring, but I could be wrong and the leader was just lying - either way, unavailable at best, unreceptive/stifled by friends at worst. Jump out, don't hang my head in shame, they're giggling about the occurrence, I say "No biggie, see you guys later" and walk away with my head held high, not sulking, proud of myself for that.

Feedback: Evidently I'm not as good as I thought I was at opening groups - a whole other category of women. What I got from tonight was talking to one girl in the group and basically asking her if I could meet her cute friend was fine before, but it's not now. It MAY be the intentions, there was a lot less "Let's see what they're like" than normal, possibly because of the demographic I was in, more comparing than usual. The way I see it was I was being honest about my intentions, even if the subcommunications needed work, which left me feeling better at the end of the day. Interacting with the group all at once as compared to one at a time may be more effective in the future. It's just a few rejections in the sea of rejections I've gotten along this journey, no big deal in the big picture.

If you all have any pointers on groups that I was evidently missing, I'd appreciate the feedback.
