sounds like you haven't made a single bold move so far but she's made a few. why can't you make overt moves but she can? why does she have to invite herself to do stuff with you but you can't with her?

She was in the middle of a shopping trip with you and you were looking for the IOIs? The whole thing was an IOI. You just needed to start smashing through her defenses.

why would you ever do this? The way you find out if you can escalate with a girl is by showing interest and just going for an escalation and seeing how it's taken. If you're interested you should never break "frame" that you are interested. If you really have to be down low about it then always be in wink wink mode. Make a connection and stay in her business.

Clothes shopping that sounds fishy. When a woman takes you clothes shopping and you are not already sleeping with her it usually means you are in the friendzone. Ask her over "to my place to watch DVDs". Use exactly this wording. If she says "no I'm busy" you know what's really going on. This technique has many advantages - first: it is not too overt. Secondly it clearly shows her interest level and level of comfort. I often ask this question and it instantly creates clarity. With this method you don't have to read subtle cues. Most IOIs are actually a normal part of a girl's behavior and need not necessarily be IOIs. There are several ways she can react to this question: If there is hesitation and she takes long to answer - it means no interest. If she says 'that would be cool but I would rather go ...' it means no interest. You see - everything that is not an instant yes clarifies the whole situation. You can instantly delete the number. One more trick they use - they say 'yes sure.'. Then you have to settle on the exact date and time. It is actually a nobrainer that always works.
