I have plenty of friends who are girls, some I met back in college, some I met when out, some I met through other guy friends. But I am much older, and have been building up my social circles for a long time.

And yes, you can use your girl friends to meet other potential girls. I would say I have a 40/60 amount of girl and guy friends. Some married, some divorced, some not so sure...

I always thought that only gays or 'less masculine males' have female friends.

With that attitude, it is no wonder I am so lucky with my girl friends friends...

Every interaction with a women starts from the perspective of just having (no strings attached) fun.

It then progresses\escalates towards a possible:

hook up

friendship

relationship

If I find I have a connection with a girl, but a hookup is just not going to happen, then we can progress to being friends, especially if we have some things in common.

If I was the girl, I would probably think

Don't even go there. Guys are logical and rational, girls are irrational and emotional creatures.

Girls love relationships, even friendships, something to bond to and nurture. Its not all sexual to them. (yes, they like sex, but doesn't drive their life)

Guys are mostly visual, shallow, sexual creatures, who only approach the girls they would have sex with.

if you want to know how to make some girl friends, try to get to know all the girls, not just the attractive ones. Find the ones you have something in common with (hobbies, sports, authors, movies, TV Shows, games).

In closing, I will say this: I have found that my odds of getting a hook-up actually increase with the more girls (friends) I am surrounded by...

I had very similar problems when I was younger. I would recommend you do this:

Befriend women who are in a relationship, women who are NOT your type, or women who would never be into you (read: lesbians).

One of my best friends has been in a relationship for the past four years. She's also the one who introduced me to every great bar and restaurant in the city. My other best friend is lesbian and has one of the most amazing social circles ever.

I recommend you start there.

By the way, I know you didn't ask about this, but I felt the urge to point it out because it's going to hurt you in the long run.

This is why it is vital to make a lot of female friends. Hot females have hot female friends.

This is true and it makes sense but don't go out in the world with the mindset, "Oh, I'm only interested in meeting attractive people". It's very shallow and people pick up on this.

Go out to the world with the mindset of, "I'm a social person, I love meeting people, despite their race, background, etc."

Through this, you will naturally meet more attractive people.
