Forward: Reading any PUA can greatly increase your susceptibility to cancer, dementia, heart disease, diabetes, influenza, rheumatoid arthritis, lupus - even the common cold.
TL;DR: Use your own reality as a filter before applying x-chode technique to a girl who was already into you.
I think a lot of the problem with reading pickup is generally guys read everything they see as gospel and or turn themselves into pickup-advice-sponges. Absorb every piece of information as if it were always applicable or applicable to them at the wholesale level.
This became a problem with me. I'll give examples.
Pick up advice is not calibrated to you and instead is given as "one size fits all" when in reality only some of that advice was even ever partially applicable to you in the beginning. But now, once you've delved into learning "all the tricks", you're fully invested and qualifying yourself with every proposed self-defeating, doubt-inducing, awkward, low-self-esteem hypothetical construct the PUA is throwing at you.
I had to stop myself and take inventory of all the wrong shit I had absorbed and why it was killing my game.
I went back through and re-read the some of the material and realized that less than a tenth of any of what I was inadvertently identifying with, I had previously 1) never a problem with or 2) didn't want or intend or need to know the underlying reasons for once I did.
So as a by-product of giving PUA a chance, it caused me to actually think about the mindless shit I used to do without even the first thought or action, invited self-awareness where there was none and allowed poor thinking to consume my judgement around girls who wouldn't have even consciously registered on the same physiological construct of an idea I consider to be my reality.
For example, I went back and read one of those bulleted lists:
"Problems "most guys" have with girls"
Not a single one applied to me. Furthermore, I had never given any thing like that the first thought nor had I ever given a lesser known-shit for.
Cont..
"If you said yeah like most guys"...
Seriously. Go f*** yourself you conception-polluting, create-the-disease-to-sell-the-cure infirmity-concocting snakeoil salesmen.
Creating Disease: Big Pharma and Disease Mongering
Excerpt:
• Taking a normal function and implying that there’s something wrong with it and that it should be treated
• Describing suffering that isn’t necessarily there
• Defining as large a proportion of the population as possible as suffering from the “disease”
• Taking a common symptom that could mean anything and making it sound as if it is a sign of a serious disease**
Poor contradictory advice I absorbed from pickup:
Stop waiting for IOIs:
My findings: 100% bogus. IOIs are not only a integral part of the mating process, they are programmed into us at the evolutionarily level.
This is such crap advice, it tells you to rail against your own pre-programmed instinctual-level inclination to do it.
Nothing could pull me out of a hot and heavy flirtation escalation like some bullshit I'm telling myself like. "Oh crap. I better stop paying attention to her IOIs and just plow straight through this".
Linked on this very forum:
Why Being In State is Important & *Why NOT to Wait for IOIs, or, What Drinking Alcohol Taught Me (self.seduction) submitted 6 years ago * by *[deleted] [deleted]
The only thing can be said for this shit-nugget of an excuse for advice is that it assumes the subject only waits for IOIs to move forward.
Most guys will never get laid if they don't fuck a girl on the first date.
Author goes on to state that out of 15 guys spoken to, only one fucked a girl after the first date.
If the author's suggestion is that only 6.6% of anyone ever only gets laid past first dates, then that would be an very poor assumption. Very poor.
