If you are aiming to get chicks that are taller than you, you must have an almost-perfect game and a uranium shit-test shield. It's a big turnoff in their eyes but its not impossible. Try to get as tall as possible.

It probably makes more difference to lie about your height in dating sites than it does to actually be taller. That being said, 2 inches can add about 0.5 to your SMV. Being 6'3" myself has definitely helped. But working out has made more of a difference than anything.

5'8" guy here. First of all, you aren't short, you are just short for a guy who goes out to clubs and bars.

Second, 2 inch raises absolutely make a difference. The reason being, a girl will not be as interested in a guy who they see as shorter than them, EVEN IF IT IT THE 6" HIGH HEELS THAT MAKE THEM TALLER. Yes, girls, especially drunk girls, can be so delusional that they think they are actually that height.

You can overcome it, but your frame needs to be great.

EXAMPLE

Last Thursday I was at a club, and this girl initiated dancing by pretending to accidentally fall on me while I was sitting on a couch.

She gave me 2 fitness tests, both to do with height or strength. I guess the first one wasn't convincing enough, but the second one I nailed it. She tried to dip and then stopped. I wasn't expecting it, so I messed it up, but instead of admitting that, I said, "That's not how you dip."

So she says, "Well you have to be strong enough to dip me." That's when I PICK HER UP AND SPIN HER AROUND. Five minutes later we are back on the couch making out.

I would go for the extra height, but height isn't everything. You would date a chick with small boobs, but she better be HOT. Same for woman and height. You better have FRAME.

Yes. Why? Eye contact. When you look a girl in the eyes, she absolutely knows whether she is looking up at you, or looking down at you.

Guys don't notice that shit so much. But I absolutely believe girls do. One reason is that it becomes very obvious when you're within a few inches of a girl, looking in her eyes, and straight guys never do that with each other, so it's easy for a guy to underestimate how girls feel about that.

So the 2 inches thing... it's probably a big deal to get your foot in the door. My quick opinion is this... once you've fucked her, you need to stop adding to your height fairly quickly. You can't hid height when you guys are barefoot. If you get rid of fake height soon after you fuck her, maybe in small doses, she'll rationalize that "you seemed a lot taller" and that will translate to "his alphaness makes him seem taller" which then turns into a positive attribute.
