The gym is the worst place to pick up girls, they are there to work out and GET pretty, and unless you look like a greek god they don't want to be interrupted by some dude that is trying to correct their form.

Of course you can approach women at the gym. here's an opener: "can you spot me for a minute?" after she spot you can thank her. if she's friendly, introduce yourself and talk a bit. if she's not friendly, just thank her and go on with your workout.

I used to approach girls all the time at the gym. If I couldn't think of anything to say I'd just open with a hey I thought you were really pretty and I just had to say hi. How's your workout going blabla small talk jokes get number whatever
