Hi there,

 I'm about to be 30 years old as well. I'm usually lone wolf because most my friends moved to different cities so I'm left alone to my own devices. It is awkward at first going out alone, however, going out to bars and clubs alone can be fun. I would pretend that I was waiting for someone even though I really wasn't. I would scope out the environment quickly and try to small talk some random dude while either waiting in line and generally just shoot the shit with them. The game starts before you head out the door of your house. You gotta be upbeat because people notice that kind of thing before you get into the club/bar. Be real and honest in your approach and let them know that it's your first time going to this specific area, ask them general advice about the area, best bars/clubs etc. Things to do for fun, places to hang out. Then just try to find a common connection that you guys can talk about. Bam you just made a new friend. Really if you know how to make friends when you were younger, you can apply the same approach. If the dude seems disinterested in talking to you, then you move on, switch to a different area, small talk to another guy using the same approach. Now you somewhat know 2 people.

Then you can use them as wingmen if necessary. Also I find that if you have gym memberships and frequently see the same guys working out. Ask them for a spot when you're doing exercises. Shoot the shit and do the same thing. Use a positive frame of mind and remove the "loser" notion that "only losers go out alone." Don't be afraid to experiment. I don't know what city you are in but if you are in a city with major colleges that are frequented by college women then it would be wise to expand your social circles a bit. I find it easiest to attract women once they find you acceptable in a social circle. High end women always have insecurities like younger girls. They just know how to hide it better. Put more walls up because they have been hit on so much. Look great, be nice, be a gentleman, be a leader. work out, expand your hobbies (sailing, water sports, surfing, reading, music tastes, sports, trends) have a wide vocabulary so you can speak to wide range of people. Know and use a variety of topics and use it at your disposable. Don't drink too much while you're in a bar. If you insist on having something in your hand, don't hold the glass in front of you, be open and friendly yet stand your ground if someone comes at you.

What you should do really depends on your personality type. For you, I would recommend online dating and joining social clubs. A lot of cities have meetups for things like barhopping and fitness related things.

Do things you want. I didn't really do it until I was living alone 1000 miles from where I grew up. I pushed myself to live out there. Go out to coffee shops alone, go eat alone, and go to parties alone. I believe people latch onto eachother because the majority are a weak willed group who struggle to do things for themselves. If my friends don't want to do something exciting with me I will go do it alone for myself then give them shit for being lame and boring. That kind of security and self confidence is more attractive, and, people look up to you as a person for having that kind of (will? resolve? I don't know what word describes it). The questions asked by people on this sub are always beginner Q/A issues and you are better off looking through r/socialskills

I'm 28years old, I have a kid but I'm single. It's hard, very hard to find "single" friends. Clubs aren't my scene anyway, but going out alone, that's very hard for me. I read on here, a lot of guys go out alone and have successful nights but I'm still iffy about the whole going out alone thing. I myself feel losers go out alone too.
