I really don't know. When I get matches, I either exchange a couple of messages and then never respond again, or I rarely engage more with someone every 2-3 months if I find them interesting. However, it usually ends with just one date because either the person doesn't appeal to me, or it fades away on its own.

In my 28 years, there was only one person I dated for a longer period, and that was because I already knew her, and she took the initiative. I get enough matches, so that's not the issue. It's me, and I have no idea why. In real life, it's even worse. I've been in love with my best friend for two years, and I'm afraid to ever bring it up because she's important to me, and I don't want to ruin our 6-year friendship. Just yesterday I saw her updated Tinder profile, and it hit me like a flash. I decided that I need to start dating again. Like, what the fuck? She isn't the reason why I'm like this since this pattern predates her, but it's been bottling up in my mind for two years now.

I also avoid dating others I know in real life unless I'm 100% sure they're interested. I look good enough for others to approach me, flirt with me, and I receive compliments regularly. The problem lies within me, and I have no idea what it is. Do I lack courage? Have too much fear? Lack self-confidence? I don't know, and I'll be turning 30 without having had a real relationship. My mood is currently very low due to several things, and this just adds to it. Even if I'm interested in someone, I still hold back, and I have no idea why
