Not a popular belief but sex is a drug, and there are a lot of girls, and guys, who have mixed feelings about casual sex. Some people more than others. Girls may convince themselves that it's casual sex they are after but intact it may be intimacy. And so they hope for more than sex. This isn't to say that you're a bad person for doing what you do, but, if you don't want to feel guilty then just fuck straught up sluts. Not as rewarding but you're also not playing with hearts.

i can really relate to this and it totally put me off trying to escalate as I was certain the girl would get attached to me and I would feel shit having to reject them later

basically OP.. I dont have an answer for you.. but I would say that the fact that you actually give a shit about people, is a big part of the reason they TRUST you and let you in .. its up to you how much getting your dick wet means to you and what your willing to sacrifice

and like others say, there are girls who are down to just fuck.. maybe you need to hit the bar / club scene where its more quick and physical and theres not time for emotions (not that i know much about that scene - it could be a overly romantic picture)
