Strangers smiling at you or you smiling at them is a concept that sort of baffles me. Makes no sense in my brain.

Time for a little rant.

Excluding some exceptions I can't even smile back at someone most of the time. Unless it's the mechanic or a front desk person at the gym or a cashier or something. The gym is one exception, y'know since everyone's in the same environment, it's not that weird. I like seeing someone smile at the gym since sometimes the atmosphere in there is fucking depressing.

But if we're talking like in general public. Like the bus, ferry, mall or just whatever. A place that isn't a controlled environment.

If someone smiles at me. It's weird. Seriously. Granted people don't even like sitting next to me on public transportation(except for some girl that liked the seat next to me so much that she skipped every empty pair of seats and didn't change seats when even more seats were freed up around us, must be a personal favorite or something, it's weird because I don't recall many situations where a person didn't move away because if you look at a bus, people aren't going to willingly take a seat right next to someone else unless there's very little choice to be made and they always start getting further away once they can, but nope, this one stayed there really casually). They're not even comfortable facing me. Let alone making eye contact or smiling at me.

I mean in a non controlled environment people never ever ever smile at me. I don't remember even one instance.

Like I said with some exceptions I don't like the thought of people smiling at me in public. Mostly this would apply to younger people. 40s and lower. Because old people sometimes are just nice, I don't mind that. But everyone else? It weirds me out. I don't like when people look at me and they fucking do all the goddamn time unfortunately. Let alone smile. And they think they're so slick too. You're sitting right fucking next to me, do you think my field of view is that narrow that I can't see a person turn their head towards me? The girl I mentioned above did that too. Everyone likes to do it. Buncha curious cats.

I don't know I just don't get it. Why do you people smile at complete strangers?

Same thing happened to me. Eye contact, she smiled at me, then I like froze a bit and kinda looked away then continue to walk. Feelsbadman.
