Rightio. So growing up I was a chunky thing and tarnished my self image indefinitely. I'm 23 and have only just realised that I'm actually attractive. I lost my childhood chub and several people have told me this year I am super attractive. Not trying to sound arrogant, trust me I am as surprised as you are.

Anyhow, my taste in women matches my self image so I've been told and not my appearance. Whenever I open up to friends about women I desire they are always shocked, saying they are unattractive. I feel okay about this, I don't need the hottest babe. Just want an intelligent cutie.

Anyway, here's my problem. I've been asking around to gain self awareness and people have told me I seem super confident, that I know what I want, determined, upfront, quite intelligent and really attractive.

Here's the thing though, women I like always treat me well in the beginning. I'd say they'd be 4-7's mostly. They throw out IOI's, are generally quiet, nervous and awkward around me. Despite what people say about me, internally I'm ten times worse. Severe social anxiety concealed with super confident looking behaviour apparently? I find it hard to talk to women I like and when I do I either keep it business related or go overboard with flattery. I don't chase them and have a tendency to be aloof.

And then here's what happens- they are evidently nervous, flirty, happen to be around me all the time, nervous and fidgety around me. And I ask them out and they reject me. Or they just suddenly start acting hostile out of no where making cutting comments to me. I say 'they' because this has happened more than once. When I do ask women out they get arrogant and seem to get a kick out of it. All the women I've spoken to who feel they're letting down a bloke they feel sorry for they are nice to, not laughing as they reject him.

In the moment, I blow it off and laugh but it bloody hurts. A lot. What's happening? Could I be intimidating these women accidentally? Do women reject guys they perceive to be out of their league? Why would they?
