I've seen people saying that you just need to look good to get laid and that you'll get girls if you dress a certain way. So... do looks matter? No, not really, but they play a role in game.

 

There's a thing called familiarity bias. You tend to choose what you're used to, because you know what you're getting, it's a safe choice. You buy Coca-Cola instead of a random drink. You watch your favorite movie for the 10th time instead of a random movie that you didn't saw yet.

 

Same thing with people. You choose the people that you're used to. You're physically attracted to people that look like your parents and you prefer black people if you grew up in a place with lots of black people. This will not get you laid instantly, but it'll increase your chances a little bit. If you look/dress like the people you want to attract, they're more likely to get attracted. If you want to attract a super model, you're more likely to do it dressed in a suit than in a dirty shirt. If you want to attract an hippie, you're more likely to do it dressed in a dirty shirt than in a suit.

 

Also, even though looks don't give you girls, they give you game. When you look at yourself and you look fucking good... your confidence goes up, you're not so anxious, you actually believe you can succeed, you're more audacious, more flirtatious, you get more in flow, etc. The way you think changes. If you have good hygiene and look clean, it gives the idea that you take care of yourself and have high self-esteem. It also gives you social proof (depends on the way you're dressed and where you are - if you dress in a certain way, you'll look like the cool guys of LA and that you're ready to suck some dick in NY at the same time).

 

I'm not saying looks alone will get you girls. That's not true. What gets you girls is social skills, "game". Period. An ugly guy with game wins over a hot guy with no game, that's just a fact. However, a hot guy with game wins over an ugly guy with game. Don't overthink this, good enough is good enough. As long as you have good hygiene and clean clothes you're good to go. Pay attention to the way you present yourself, but at the same time don't let that be your main focus. If game was a car, looks would be the pointless extras that do nothing but give a better quality to the car, and social skills would be the engine. Make sure your engine is good first, then worry about the extras.
