There is a quote from a movie I like that says something like "sex is about CONCENTRATION." This is an interesting way to look at it.

She will assume you want sex, because you're "concentrating on her." There are so many people, why her? And if her, what is you motive? Sex is a very reasonable assumption.

QUESTION is this... were you hitting on her? Was it a half-ass approach?

If you're posting this here... I'll assume you WERE hitting on her, sort of. And that you're not "committed" to what you're doing, you're trying to be safe, give "safe compliments" and then you're surprised that girls know the underlying motive.

If this were true (and perhaps it's not), cut the half measures. Give compliments with intent. And if she asks, "are you hitting on me?," say "YES... you're a cute girl, I want to meet you."

Yes. All the time. But firstly why compliment, and secondly why are you approaching girls just to compliment them?

They'll start to think so, but it depends on your actions from there on out. If you look needy, they'll know you are. If you don't harp on it and move along, they'll just take the compliment for what it is.

Depends on the context.

If you compliment someone you barely know (like in a cold approach, someone you go to school with or a co-worker you don't know that well) out of nowhere and don't leave then they will think that. If you do leave then its less likely they will think that.

If you're saying it to a friend its unlikely she'll think that you're hitting on her even if you stick around for hours after the compliment.
