I'll cut the long story short: I'm five months into a breakup. Was with my fiancee for five years when she broke off the relationship - it nearly killed me. I'm working with a therapist now and learning to self love etc and doing a lot better, which, but I still find it incredibly hard to stop thinking about her.

I have noticed that since the breakup, the rejection has caused me to seriously lower my standards. I slept with a girl last night who really isn't my type at all - in fact, I don't find her attractive at all to be honest, but I did it because she was extremely keen.

To me, my ex was the most attractive woman I've ever been with, and I thought I would have her for the rest of my life, sadly that changed, but I can't understand why I've lowered my standards so much (let's say my ex was an 8/10, I've recently been dropping my standards to as low as 2/10 I would say - I have only slept with two people since the split though). I'm not quite sure what to do to increase my standards.

TL;DR : please help me to see how I can increase my standards, and stop feeling so desperate for attention. Also, any similar stories of people going through this, and figuring it out would be greatly appreciated.
