The traditional Maasai "coming of age" ritual for young men is to go out alone and kill a lion.

After centuries, lions have learned not to screw around with humans, or at least, not with Maasai warriors.

A related ritual is that the young men get circumcised with no anesthetic. Point being, these are tough fuckers. I think the lions are right to run.

Unrelated fun fact. I lived in East Africa for many years. A lot of the locals like to dress up as masaai and go to nightclubs to pull American / European tourists.
