(TL;DR - The meat and potatoes of PUA is in the Approach, the Escalation, and the Close. While there is not standard for this, as every interaction is unique, there are some things that will help you improve and become more succesful when engaging.)
So, you've built your Brand: You look the way you want to look. You speak the way you want to speak. You carry yourself with confidence, and you've built a quality life you're proud of. And you understand what kind of women you're drawn to and what kind of women are drawn to you.
And you locked your dick in the trunk of the car and covered it's mouth with ductape...
Now it's time to get out there and meet someone.
The first thing you have to do is overcome that soul crushing Approach Anxiety.
Please accept what I'm about to tell you as gospel:
YOU WILL GET REJECTED!
And it's going to be okay.
Michael Jordan misses free throws. Tiger Woods misses a putt for birdie. A pianist will miss a note. A singer will forget a lyric.
It. Will. Happen.
But it's not something to be afraid of. Fear is a response when some thing happens you didn't expect to happen. Knowing that there's a very strong likely hood that some thing will happen greatly reduces the fear of it happening. So going into any interaction knowing rejection is not only a possibility, but a likelihood, may not erase all the fear, but it will significantly reduce it.
And it's not your fault. There's a hundred reasons why a woman will reject you: She has a boyfriend. She lesbian. She just went through a tough breakup. She's already been hit on nine times today. She's not attracted to you or you're not her type. She thinks you're too old. She thinks your too young. Etc...
It doesn't mean your game is weak. It doesn't mean you're ugly or unattractive. It doesn't mean you're a loser and forever alone.
It means you tried. And thats the most important thing.
(A Quick tip on overcoming AA: Go Shopping! Seriously. I'm not saying go out an spend a shit ton of money you don't have; a shirt, a pair of pants, groceries, whatever... but really engage the Sales Professional that offers to help you. Doesn't matter if they are old or young, male or female. It is their JOB to engage you and help you with your purchase. This will give you a pressure-free opportunity to practice just talking to people, without fear of rejection. Ask their name (or read their nametag) and engage. Tell them what you want and ask them for assistance. "Hey Kelly, I'm looking for a shirt that's eye-catching but not too garish. What type of style would you suggest for my build?" That's all it takes. And when you feel like you're ready to make an approach, just switch your mind from clothing or whatever to a relationship. "Hey Kelly. I'm looking for a woman that is attractive and interesting, likes Marvel movies, and has a high sexdrive. What can you show me that fits my needs?")
Onward...
So A typical interaction is going to look like this:
APPROACH < ENGAGE < ESCALATE < CALIBRATE < RINSE/REPEAT < CLOSE.
You're going to make the Approach:
"Hey. I'm 'Attitude'. What's your name? Kelly? It's nice to meet you Kelly. Kelly, you seem like an interesting person. I want to get to know you better. Mind if I sit and chat with you for a moment or two?" (Or something of the sort.)
Then you're going to Engage:
"So Kelly, tell me about yourself; what do you do for a living? What do you do for fun? Do you have kids? Do you have a car? What kind of music do you enjoy? Etc... etc..." (Of course, I'm paraphrasing. The point is that you're going to dig a little into who she is and what she wants.)
Next, you're going to Escalate:
Now this is where most men struggle because, as more often than not, this is where the rejection happens. The bulk of all PUA material is focused on this aspect of the interaction. There is so much material out there on this that I won't go into specifics, but essentially, Escalation can be done with flirting, Kino, observing IOI's and building upon them physically or verbally.
Escalation can be touching her arm or hand, Flirting about her outfit, offering a high-five (No one ever turns down a high five), or stating you find her attractive or you like her vibe/energy, whatever whatever... It's the way you let her know what you want out of the interaction and what your intentions are.
When men find themselves in the Friendzone, it's because they failed to Escalate. They failed to clearly express their desires and intentions, hoping that "someday, she'll see me", instead of "I want to make sure you see me right now, in this moment, and I don't want you to be confused about what I want."
And they way she responds to that escalation is going to lead you to Calibration:
Did she pull away when I reached for her hand?
Did she laugh at my inappropriate joke or cringe?
Did she actually answer my questions or is she just going through the motions?
What's her body language tell me? Is she leaning in or back. Are her arms crossed or at ease? Where is her attention when I speak to her and she speaks to me?
All this helps you to decide how best to proceed. It could be something like engaging her mentally if she rebuffs you physically. It could be a change of topics. It could be becoming more physical if she shows comfort and acceptance. It may even be to hit the "Eject" button and bail.
But you have to understand that not every women works the same way, and you need to be able to adjust on the fly to her level of comfort and interaction.
Rinse.
Repeat.
And then the Close:
Now, like the Approach, the Close is situational and contextual. Meeting a woman at a bar/club can transition into a k-close or f-close, but the chances of that happening from daygame are slimmer. How you close is going to depend on everything that happened during the Escalation and Calibration phases. It may end with just a #-close, it may be a k-close, or even a f-close. The secret to the Close is to not force it. The close is all about what SHE is comfortable with in that moment. If she is okay with giving you her number, don't try to force a kiss. If she kisses you, don't try to force it into sex. Let those transitions happen naturally and gradually, and again, based on your situation.
The bottom line is that the Close is where you clearly state "This is what I want to happen next."
"Kelly, I really enjoyed talking to you and want to continue, but I have things to do today. Let's exchange numbers and we can pick this up later."
"Kelly, thanks for sharing your number with me. I'm really looking forward to talking with you later. Here's a hug to remember me by."
"Damn Kelly, have we really been holding hands this whole time? Well now that I have your info, I'm going to need my hand back. I can leave you a kiss before I take off..."
"Kelly, the way you've been kissing me all night is really turned me on. Let's head back to my place. I have a lot of cool shit you can pretend to be interested in while I try to figure out how to get you out of that dress."
It's how you end things. It's the set up for what comes next.
The HEART of PUA lies in these interactions. It's what all the guides and videos are about. And while I wish I could offer you specifics, the truth is there is no "Golden Opener", there's no perfect script, there's no exact line of dialogue or questioning that can guarantee results.
It's all contextual and situational. What works for one woman may not work on the next.
The best advice I can offer is:
Be confident in your approach. Have fun with your engagement. Be clear with your escalation. Be conscious of your calibrations. And appreciate your close.
Until tomorrow.... DATING AND SEX!
