When I go out to a bar or social venue, I usually see all the people there as formed in exclusive groups, and despite all my "no excuses / just approach, 3 seconds / life is short" pep talk on the way, I immediately freeze up, feeling like they'll give each other the awkward eyes if I impose. Maybe I'll make small talk with someone standing alone, or ask someone for the time, or in most cases I'll just walk in, walk around, then leave the venue without talking to anybody.

I know this is all my own bullshit related to having a weak frame, but I can't just will myself to suddenly be a more confident person. I've heard RSD guys talk about "being the party" even if you're by yourself, but I don't get how this is done. Or how do you get "in state" when you're by yourself... especially if you're new to this.

Any actionable tips? Or should I just never go out by myself, though I don't have enough night friends to keep up a disciplined practice.
