There's no such thing as pretending to be someone else, this isn't some pretend world. This is the real world, and anything you do in it is just as real. If you pick up a newspaper, are you pretending to pick up a newspaper, or are you actually picking up a fucking newspaper?

This is the same shit as a girl fucking a bunch of guys and thinking it doesn't make her a whore. You are what you do, you're imaginary vision of yourself in your head or anyone else's doesn't matter because it doesn't exist.

TLDR: You aren't pretending to have qualities, you're attempting to adopt qualities.
