It's not, "don't show interest." More like, show interest (which is honest) but make it clear that you won't be surprised, overjoyed, sad or butt hurt either way.

That attitude is almost impossible to fake. You can only pull it off when you have lots of dating options. It comes from either being a natural at game (cool, confident and other attractive traits) or because you've studied and learned how to be attractive.

That is some lousy advice. We love it when men flirt with us. If she’s on the market and looking, I promise she will consider the ones that have been friendly and that have given her someone to know than the guys that DGAF. Path of least resistance.

What I've experienced works best is to keep her on her toes as to what your intentions are. Like equal measures flirting and negging. Even within flirting, keep complements (validation) to a minimum and use "qualification flirting".

Show interest, but also make her qualify herself.

Just talk to her. Try to schedule a hangout without being too pushy or aggressive. If she's into you she'll go along with it and make things easy for you. If she seems cold or un receptive, move on.

You have to show interest without coming off as clingy or desperate or horny. Keep it casual and chill. Find common interests and work your way up from there. Allow things to do develop naturally. Either there will be mutual interest or there won't. Show interest but don't try to force anything. Just find a good comfortable balance.

You have to show value before your pullaway/show of non interest can work. If she doesn’t care about you, then she won’t care when you pullaway. If however she’s already attracted to you in some form or another, then yes, pulling away can help or work... but going direct in a smooth way will usually tend to also work in that situation if it’s congruent with the situation. If you want a bit of help. Practice flirting with the mirror. Say hi to the mirror in an overly sexual way. Practice saying boring sentences in flirtatious ways dripping with sexual intent. Now scale that back and go talk to a girl and do it. It’s easy. I do it all the time to personal training clients: cmon Patricia you can squeeze out 2 more. Etc etc. takes a bit of practice to not be a creep but I mean that’s what the mirror and randoms that you will never see again are for.

All of that sounds like, in one way or another, you are trying to project confidence. 'I'm not that interested in you, because I've got options, and this makes me confident.' Some women would respond to that, but they've got options too, and their options list is probably a lot longer than yours.

I just think that "not interested" approach is a bit dishonest especially if you don't have "options." I think direct interest can be many things. You can be direct with your intentions and at the same time not show desperation or clingyness.

Basically if your words and actions say "I am indeed interested in you, but if you don't feel the same way, no biggie, and best of luck to ya" I think that's the best shot at getting what you want.
