Any advice for school dances?

First of all, I’m in my 30s so I don’t remember much on what those events looked like.

However if I was to do them again, I’d:

1) Learn how to dance. If the dance is coming up too soon, learn for next time if there is a next time. Most people aren’t expert dancers, you shouldnt have to learn much minus just basic stuff you can use all the time

2) Be social — I doubt everyone is dancing at all times so connect with others and have fun with conversation. Focus on them, and helping them have a good time a lot of people can be nervous like you are.

And if you have any guy friends who feel confident, ask them to teach you some basics or something.

Advice for dancing: You are the guy. Fucking lead. If you are doing ballroom dances, then practice the steps on your own. Same with when you have a partner. Move through the air. You do your thing, and let your partner follow. Be a direct force so your partner can pick up on that Latino dances: Don't be afraid of tryi g out new things and failing. Work a lot with your arms, and learn how to do a "dile que no" Good luck

Here’s the only advice I can give you based on my experience:

Don’t be a wallflower. Don’t sit there and wait for someone to come after you. It will never happen. High schoolers are all waiting for something amazing to happen, so you’ll never get approached if you wait. Do the approaching. Asking a single girl to dance will never kill you. Ever.

Hahaha 25 M I remember those. No one was dancing, they just jumped up and down and made a mosh pit. No need to know how to dance (even though it's useful to learn, a lot of books suggest taking acting classes but I suggest dance lessons, you learn a new useful skill, you be in shape, and you'll get somewhat I'm used to the exposure and build confidence). I knew a friend who used to dress... flamboyant. He had everyone’s full attention anytime we went out. Women approached him constantly about his clothes. That was his whole conversation starter.
