Need advice on tactics. One of the guys in my social circle who's frequently present at parties is quite bombastic and over the top funny (farcical) in a way that gets a lot of attention from the girls present. On a few occasions, this has ended up stymying my attempts at flirting.

I'm definitely not extroverted. I'd say more the charming/witty/cerebral/one-on-one type. I don't really drink either. I like my personality and my style. It gets results whenever it's just me and a girl flirting with each other. Not as great in party settings, but I'd like to improve.

Ironically, said jester is not really a seducer; his tactics do ultimately and predictably fail to attract women. But he's really good at sucking up all the oxygen in the room and overshadowing suaver types by comparison.

Is there a good way to deal with this in these environments?
