Approach anxiety. Lots of males deal with it.

Crash & Burn might work: just approach expecting failure. It can get you out of your head and into real conversation.

Expect "she has a bf' or 'she's queer' or 'she's too busy'. Frees you up.

It sounds like you live in a busy area. This is actually good because you can practice a lot and if you by some chance say something embarrassing or stupid that you regret or just plain get rejected out of the number, there is a small chance you'll run into them again anyway. I live in a city that's barely a city because it's so small, so I see a lot of the same people often no matter where I go. The type of place a fucked reputation will follow you. Imo you should keep practicing because you don't really have anything to lose.

I dont judge yourself too negatively for not approaching because those are tough situations.

How I make them less tough.: trying to make it so we acknowledge each other non verbally. Then if that works well, open indirectly.
