There is no wrong place or time to make the approach. Especially if your goal is to gain confidence, you should approach in almost any circumstance imaginable.

I would also suggest taking up a combat sport of some type. Helps with confidence immensely.

Cold approaches are a lot of fun once you learn to love it. Learn to love cold approaching and you will get good at it very quickly. If you are only concerned with getting numbers or getting laid then you will end up hating.

Do it for fun and make it a game.

The only source of confidence should be yourself.

When you understand and embrace this go out and have fun while approaching. Don't overthink, don't wait for the perfect moment. It 'll never come.

Go either to the streets on the center of your town or to a club /bar and start taking action.
