At 36 you shouldn't need to pass folded up notes. I'm speaking as a 37 yo 6'5 guy who isn't a gym rat but athletic.

The “get to know them part” should be done in the initial approach. So rather than giving them a note, you should have a 5-10 min conversation with them, to show your personality, to see theirs, see if your both click smoothly in person, and build the romantic moment face to face, which has a way bigger impact for them than receiving written words.

And after you had the 10 min conversation, and the conversation was actually good and you seem to be liking each other during the conversation, then you may ask her out and take her number. So that then, the number is used strictly for setting up a date not to get to know her through texts.

This will always be far more effective. In texts you are always gonna have less success.

Which is fine but then WHY WOULD YOU TEXT ME?!

Because women make their decisions based on the conversation they are having with you.

Your confusion comes because you make the mistake of thinking a girl should know as soon as they see you if they like you or not and that as such they should already be sold on you or not before they even text. But that’s only how men work.

Women on the other hand don’t know if they like you or not until they are interacting with you, which is why women test guys, because they are waiting to see if you both are on the same vibe or not which can only be done by actually interacting with you.

The problem therefore comes from what i said before, which is that through texting it’s nearly impossible to vibe because vibe is something that is only felt in person, you need to look at each others eyes while you talk, they need to see if the man’s presence makes them blush or some like a little girl because he makes her feel shy, they need to feel his touch, and the need to feel how the conversation flows spontaneously.

In texts, you cannot do that, they are distracted by other things, the conversation isn’t always instant, and by the time you have responded they have already lost the emotions they were feeling previously, and the momentum is gone. This is why, you need to stop collecting numbers or giving your number when you approach women and instead focus on having conversations in person to seduce them face to face for 5-10 minutes.

I get it you think that’s not possible wherever you approach but that’s just a limiting belief of yours, it’s perfectly possible because I do it and many other people do it. And we can do it everyone can do it as long as they learn.
