First, I would NOT tell him what you’re trying to do. Just do it. Then I would read The Empowered Wife and implement. Not all will be useful right now as you’re not yet married, but it will give you an idea of how to go about this.

You shouldn’t be talking to him about this - just the fact that you seem to believe your femininity depends on him, and that you have to verbally convince him to change, shows you have a long way to go in your own personal development. Just start showing up more feminine, and he may start showing up more masculine in response (or might not, in which case you have your answer and know what you have to do). Read and implement The Surrendered Single and The Surrendered Wife, and see how he responds over time.

That being said, he’s told you clearly what he wants and it’s not the same thing you want. If you want to be more feminine, start now. You don’t need his permission. But you need to understand that this is most likely not your forever partner and you may need to break up so you can both find someone more compatible.

Full text: My boyfriend and I have been together for almost 7 months now. I’ve always tended to have a bit of a more submissive personality in a relationship but he’s all about equality. I’ll ask him about his preferences and he shrugs it off saying he likes me for who I am now and has no problem with me just being me. And I really appreciate that, however a part of me still wants to please him and look to him for any type of guidance. My personality is a bit masculine and I’ve been curious to dive a bit into my feminine side but I wish he would just tell me to do it or just tell me what he likes.

Any advice? I don’t want to scare him away.

The question is why you wanna please him if it’s rooted in an unhealthy way it’s not feminine at all. It’s just an unhealthy trait. I assume only based on the post you wrote it’s bit unhealthy. Of course you should delve into other patients of yourself which Carl Jung’s call the shadow. Basically stuff you repressed. But the question is do you even have a "feminine" side. I know it sounds crazy. But there are personality traits that isn’t you not your authentic self no matter where you search it. What I mean is in general I know it’s sounds cliche but be yourself. It doesn’t mean to not put effort in how you’re appearing to your partner but accept who you are as well. Once you did this then you can show your authentic self to him but here is the catch still make an effort for him. Example: your authentic self obviously is without make up. This is a part you accept about yourself he should also see it. But you can still make an effort to wear make up and so on. Idk if that makes sense. Heck this is even the most feminine thing you can do.

Saying you want to be submissive and saying you want him to be a leader are two different things. You can be submissive without him telling you what to do.

If you want him to make decisions for you, that’s a different conversation.
