Most women hate things like camping and being out in nature. Even much less if there's bears in the area.

There’s a black bear that lives in the woods near me. The ladies on the Next Door app started calling it Bubba. The jokes on them, Bubba has been spotted walking around with 3 cubs in tow.

I don't doubt that all of these bear encounters are real. The internet connects people from all over the world and many people do live near bears or go hiking or what have you.

But those women are comparing their one or two times seeing a bear for a minute in the woods to their many many years of living surrounded by men, often times cohabiting alone with them for extended periods of time, sometimes the majority of their lifetimes.

It's just apples to oranges.

There are a lot of places with very big bear populations, I believe a significant number of women may have had a run in with some. Especially since if you live in those areas you are told what to do if you encounter your local bear. Theyre a pretty common animal for people who frequent camping and hikes in the woods in these areas.

Have you really never seen a bear in person? They're pretty common. Around here (upstate NY), black bears will sometimes knock over garbage cans or eat out of gardens at houses on the edge of town. Campers are advised to keep food in their cars overnight and trashcans in state parks are bear-proof.
