Also factually misleading. Katharine Wright helped run their bicycle shop when the brothers were away and also worked to promote her brothers invention to make sure they were credited with heavier than air powered flight.

She deserves credit for running the bicycle shop and being an important spokesperson.

I'm not sure what credit this person thinks she's deserving.

What's funny about this current historical negation trend is that most of the men, whose accomplishments they want to negate, could be negated on the basis of class/wealth rather than sex. This is actually the easier and more defensible negation argument to make, although it's still not a very good one.

A brilliant author or scientist, who has time to work on that because they can afford to hire servants (or even buy slaves depending on their historical setting) to do all their cooking, cleaning, etc. still deserves 100% of the credit for their own work. If someone wants to present a properly balanced portrayal of that person, they can mention something like "had the good fortune to be born to an upper class family, which allowed the opportunity" and perhaps go on to mention the various people who had a hand in creating that opportunity, but it would be insane to argue that a hired maid deserves, in addition to her pay, credit for whatever work her employer does during the time that said employer effectively purchased for themself by paying her. That makes about as much sense as saying that the maker of a paintbrush deserves credit for any paintings made using said paintbrush.

If a man couldn't afford to hire servants, and his wife, mother, sister, or anyone else who happened to be a woman in his life, did all the housework free of charge so that he would have time to do whatever he became famous for doing, then said woman deserves credit for her generous gift of her time. If said man is a decent person then he will, without being prompted, mention that generosity in any personal account of the process by which he made his famous accomplishment, and he definitely won't lie and say that he did all of the housework himself during the time of his intellectual pursuit. There's a world of difference between "I couldn't have done it without her" and "she and I worked together on it"; only the latter warrants actual credit for the accomplishment itself.
