My wife and I were both stationed in Japan, and she took our kid with her on SkillBridge without ever telling me.
When I found out, I worked hard and tirelessly to get orders to as close to her and as soon as possible. I was majorly successful, as I just PCS’d to an area only 5 hours away (as opposed to a continent and ocean away).
Now, we slayed her in a temp custody hearing, but the judge has concerns about “the child “acclimating” back to me” because it’s been months since I’ve seen her. Months, because my wife took her out of country without informing me until weeks later.
She wants to only give me one week out of a month. Bear in mind the divorce is being handled by Florida, which defaults to shared custody unless a parent is deemed unfit or it’s in the best interest of the child.
I’m asking my lawyer to press the wound and try for two weeks on, two weeks off, but if they don’t budge I’ll take whatever time I can get (for now — I’ll be striving for more and more always).
