My questions usually go a little deeper than a lot of you want to think about, so if you're not up for reading and considering then save us both the time.
For reference, I grew up with some very independent women. I know what women are capable of and it's a lot more than some let on. When I see women who "just can't" I dismiss it as weak and/or manipulative behavior. When the women in my family saw this behavior they personally called it out as weak and manipulative. The women in my family were resistant to being taken care of themselves. So that was my programming.
Then some stars aligned and I heard some talk of women "resting in their femininity" when "a man takes care of the things that a man should take care of". (It was very pro-conservative relationship values)
Shit like metaphorically opening pickle jars pops into my head. But when women lean on you when they're distressed (and don't seem to do it much to other people), tell you about their woes and get flustered in front of you, use the higher pitched voice to ask you for things... do you most of you find this genuine?
Am I overlooking women trying to be the feminine one in the dynamic because of the strong women (single mothers, pants-wearers, cops, ER nurses, etc) I've grown up with or is this stuff actually just weird behavior from weird women like I'm suspicious of?
