In anything in life... intermediates, as soon as they become intermediates, start to open up to the fact that concepts beat out tricks and gimmicks when developing a whole game. Whether it be a sport, a job, pickup, whatever.

But, before that point these concept are not available to people who have not had enough first, second and third person experience in whatever the game is.

This is where lines, canned openers, being subordinate to wingmen, routines, coaches talking in your ear, etc DO work... because their job isn't necessarily to take you from start to finish (although they might) but rather to give you some pieces with which to play the game enough to see what the fuck is going on.

In college they literally teach you the wrong way to do accounting so you can more easily learn the concepts then throw away the old method of teaching and move on to something more accurate. This is a tried and tested form of academia.

"Be more relaxed", "Don't get caught up on validation", "Don't let her take the frame" this is all concept knowledge. If you code then think of it like this... this is stylesheet. It's not markup. Markup is the canned line. The how, when and why to say the canned line is the stylesheet. You can't have stylings without actual fucking content.

Whether or not you choose to use the same content down the road is up to you.
