How to ask out a girl who is in my book club, when I run the book club?

This can happen, but depends also if you will make it weird. If she is allowed to reject you with literally no consequences (either physical, social or emotional from your side), there are way less chances of it getting weird (and at this age, 30+, even less chances as people are expected to be more mature).

You can talk to her after one of the meetings in a more isolated setting or in another situation outside of the direct activities of the group, but I think the most important think is just to let her be comfortable regardless of if she is interested or not.

Ask her to accompany you to a book store looking for some book(s), so it wouldn’t be a date. See if she’s interested. By doing that you wouldn’t risk your club if she’s not actually into you.

you have attraction because

spend a lot of time together, attraction grows
you LEAD the group, organize it etc. so you have leadership skills that are attractive

i say you got a pretty good shot. the way I would go about if find common interest from a book then ask if she wants to check out the event. You can phrase it like "hey im going to x and y on <date>, would you like to come with?"

Its also easier to ask if you made plans with a group of friends: "hey me and my friends are going to x, wanna come with?" this alleviates the pressure of just 1:1 and she can meet your friends.

if she says no, its not a big deal.

Either one works, just depends what setting you want.

I would wait for her to ask you out but signal interest a bit more intently or look for a play or theater entertainment yiu think she might like toss out that you saw it in town and tjought of her wait for her to say oh maybe we can go together

You have to have a private conversation with her first at least. Then you have to find out if she is single. Once you establish those things just ask her out but keep in mind every woman in the class will know that you asked her out rather quickly whether you get accepted or rejected.

Girls like the idea of the group leader " subtly flirting " in front of the class or an exchange of " saucy looks " but if I'm being real , it's not actual advice on what to do. It's moreso women projecting their fantasy on the instructor. Technically you can learn to give bedroom eyes on command but there's no technique that'll trump her already finding you attractive
