When a date rainchecks, how do you spend your suddenly free night?

I've gone out by myself numerous times. In fact, some friends canceled a night out on me, so I went to the bar we were supposed to meet up at alone. I wound up chatting with a lovely lady whom I've been dating for over three years now. Put yourself out there, and have fun. You got this!

I take the night for my damn self. I will light a blunt and stream old PBS episodes of "the joy of painting" and paint along, or "sunshine cuisine" and master a recipe.

One of the paintings got me some attention on i.g. that may or may not have resulted in a meaningless hookup with a friend of a friend, the details; as a gentleman I can't disclose. It all works out.

Go to a bar, take in everything around you, open up and be receptive. At worst you chilled at a bar, perhaps with a nice drink and people watched which can be a nice way to wind down by itself. Perhaps an opportunity for someone to engage with presents itself, perhaps someone engages with you. It can happen.

Fuck thinking someone might think of you as a weird loner, if anyone does just let them, but the truth is that most people there don't give enough of a shit about you to think anything of you.

I've been borderline meditating alone in bars more than once. Just me, the drink, the music and the people doing their things around me. Sometimes interesting things happen, sometimes it's just a chill evening, either way works for me.

I have even been approached like this before, doing literally nothing other than sitting down and probably looking like I'm enjoying it there.

I would not recommend going to a bar with the goal of finding someone to talk to. Find a way to enjoy just simply being there, so that if nothing interesting happens you at least didn't have a shit time. Another part to that is that if your baseline is that you enjoy the moment you become a whole lot more approachable and have a much better starting point if you do decide to hit someone up there.
