Her father needed help. He had a serious alcohol problem. He wasn't abusive or anything. Alcohol effects people differently, some don't have a problem, others get hooked on it, but they can still go about their business. Still others, it really gets in the way of their functioning properly. You think, oh, the poor girl, but she wasn't actually raised by him. She was raised by her mother, who reportedly was strict with her. She was a young teen who just wanted to escape her mother's strict rules and spend her estranged father's money, seeing as how in his state, it was hard for him to keep track of things. She didn't go there to help him. This was observed by a mutual friend who also happened to be the one to discover him after it had happened. She called her right away and said something was wrong with her father, and she laughed about it. She thought she must have misunderstood, so she explained it wasn't just his alcoholic state, but she didn't get any kind of response. She was getting ready for her 18th birthday party being held at a hotel since the house was such a wreck. But her father was paying for her to have it there. Why couldn't she just have it at her mother's house? She wasn't concerned about him but then got mad and tried to call him because the debit card stopped working. Apparently, her father changed his pin number. I wonder why? She demanded to know the new pin number. She later unwisely admitted to throwing lye on him because he was in a state where he was unable to drive her to an appointment she had with her hairstylist in preparation for the party, and she had to call a friend to drive her instead.

Somehow, this lady judge looked past all this. I don't know if she's some kind of feminist or what. But I bet that wouldn't happen if it was a son doing that to his mother, even if she was abusive somehow. He would have psychologists explaining to him that he should help his mother, get beaten up behind bars, and get a stiff sentence, as it should be for such a heinous crime.

And yet, also in Michigan, one of my best friends dad is in jail for the rest of his life without the chance of parole, for being intoxicated and killing his wife, with zero priors and zero calls to police prior. I wonder what the difference is.

Women typically get one-third of the sentence for identical crimes. They are never held accountable the same as men. Women also have 11 more defenses against murder because of their gender, options completely unavailable to men. Women can also sexually abuse male children with impunity, and get probation, if charges are even brought. People call the victim lucky, and don't hold the actual perpetrators accountable. Mention that's where the real rape culture exists and ladies get upset.

We can sit here and complain, but it won't do anything. Anyone who tries to hold women accountable are torn down as anti-woman, misogynistic. This will never change until women themselves ask for accountability for their peers. That's unlikely to happen.
