Hi all, long time lurker here. 29yo foreigner living in Barcelona, Spain. I guess my question is twofold:

  1. Any practical tips for overcoming approach anxiety/bitch butterflies? I like to think I have decent social skills and have had quite some success with women, but cold approach continues to be a sticking point for me. I feel like the people here avoid eye contact, which makes it harder for me to say something. Even just saying 'hi' to a stranger is very hard for me.

  2. Should I just speak English when approaching? I'm learning Spanish and know a phrase or 2, but don't think I could hold a conversation. On the other hand, many people don't know English here. The locals are actually Catalan and even think of Spanish as kind of a foreign language, although they speak it too. The language barrier also contributes to my approach anxiety.

Thanks in advance for the feedback and if anyone wants to team up sometime in Barcelona, hmu 😁.
