So, if an underage male commits this kind of violence, they go to jail. If an underage female does, they get a slap on the wrist. If we didn't have double standards, there would be none at all!

Female privilege is only 2% of women being in youth custody but they will still work and prioritise that 2% rather than put that effort towards the 98% which are boys. Then have the nerve to say they aren't ignoring boys needs, I have a feeling people aren't that fussed with boys not receiving therapeutic and trauma informed environment.

What's annoying this could have been a good change, treat the youth kinder and try to understand and unpack their trauma, mental health issues and emotional needs but they just had to make it gender specific.

Feminists have wanted female prisons shut down for many decades. It was always going to happen.

My personal view is prison does not work, it conditions a young mind to see themselves as criminals. They internalise crime more.

Preventing the youth from sliding into crime and gangs is the better way but these programmes only exist for girls like scholarships, education field trips, funding for girls in computer coding , STEM internships, peer mentorships in schools set up by female teachers. Boys are often excluded.

Imo boys are the more at risk group what with not seeing men in family, community, schools etc as role models where girls see women everywhere and dominate funding already. Yet as always, "women and girls most affected" .
