Moving to a new city is exciting, but one of the biggest challenges is building a strong social circle from scratch. It’s one thing to have a great spot to live and a solid job, but if you don’t have people to go out with, explore the nightlife, and meet women, you’re making things way harder on yourself. The truth is, game is 10x easier when you’re not rolling solo every night. A solid social circle means more social proof, better logistics, and more organic ways to meet high-quality women without relying on cold approach every time.

Over the years, I’ve learned that making connections isn’t something that just happens. You have to take the right steps to put yourself in the mix. Whether you're looking to meet girls, solid wingmen, or just expand your network, these are the strategies that have worked for me.

1. Go out solo (and force yourself to be social)

The easiest way to meet people is to simply put yourself in social environments. If you’re waiting on the perfect friend group before you hit the bars, you’ll be waiting a long time. Instead, pick a good spot. Somewhere with a friendly crowd, a good bar setup, or even an event that interests you and start chatting with people.

The key is engaging in small interactions. Talk to the bartender, compliment someone’s drink choice, ask a group if they’ve been to the spot before. You don’t need to overthink it, just being out and conversational naturally leads to opportunities.

2. Become a regular at a few key places

One of the fastest ways to get recognized in a new city is by frequenting the same spots. Whether it’s a favorite lounge, a gym, or a coffee shop, showing up regularly means you start seeing familiar faces.

Bartenders, bouncers, and other regulars will start recognizing you, which gives you instant social proof. Over time, people assume you belong there, and that makes it much easier to meet others naturally. Instead of being just another random guy, you become part of the scene.

3. Say yes to invites & be open to new experiences

If you’re invited somewhere, even if it’s outside your comfort zone, go. Whether it’s a coworker’s happy hour, a Meetup group, or a networking event, every invitation is a chance to expand your connections.

Similarly, be proactive in finding social opportunities. Look for nightlife events, bar crawls, sports leagues, or even online groups that organize meetups like meetup.com. The goal is to consistently put yourself in situations where meeting people is effortless.

4. Find a wingman to go out with

Going out solo is a great skill to build, but having a solid wingman can completely change the game. A good wing makes it easier to approach groups, keeps conversations flowing, and makes the whole experience more fun.

If you don’t have a go-to person yet, one of the best ways to find like-minded guys is through shared activities, bars/clubs, or joining other dedicated subreddits, groups or platforms to find wingmen near you.

5. Take the Initiative & Create Plans

If you want a strong social circle, sometimes you have to be the one who brings people together. Once you meet a few people, start organizing plans. Invite them to grab drinks, check out a new lounge, or even host a pregame.

Most people want to go out and meet new people, but they don’t always take the lead. Being the one who initiates plans puts you in a leadership role, and before long, you’re the guy others start inviting out as well.

Building a social life in a new city doesn’t have to take years. With the right approach, you can start meeting the right people quickly and build a solid group of friends and wingmen.

Let’s share some ideas. If you want a deeper breakdown, I wrote a longer article on the topic here.
