Well, the State systematically dismantled that institution. Concurrently, it castrated men, entirely in plain sight, and without violence, by preferencing women in the employment market. For each woman who gets a man's job, there's another man who may never be afforded the opportunity to have a family of his own. In fact, it's worse than that. Courtesy of female hypergamy, there's an entire strata of men who won't even be contemplated by ma'am as potential partners.
