Do you think your location is bad for meeting women? Maybe it’s too cold. Maybe it has an old-school, traditional culture. Or maybe you have some other belief about your city - like “women here aren’t open to being approached” or “real-life approaches don’t work here.”
So I’ve been talking to women and flirting in real life for over 11 years. And I actually started my journey in Latvia - specifically in Riga, the capital. If you don’t know Riga, it’s a city of about 600,000 people, so quite small. Also in winters it used to hit -20°C, and there were barely any people outside.
Not only that, but Latvia has a pretty old-school dating culture. People don’t really talk to strangers (it’s post Soviet / Eastern European country). Women aren’t as warm or open as in some other parts of the world. And also because the central area of the city is small, I’d run into the same people over and over.
I had every excuse not to approach. The same excuses I hear from guys all the time:
- “There aren’t enough people in my city.”
- “It’s too cold.”
- “Women here are too traditional.”
- “I’ll run into the same girls.”
I had all those same excuses. But I still went out. And at first? Yeah, some women weren’t the most open. I got loads of rejections But as I got better, as my skills improved, they started responding differently. In fact, the first 10 women I ever slept with from real life approaches? All from Latvia. All from my city.
So here’s the truth: Your location is not the problem. The weather is not the problem. The culture is not the problem.
The problem is that you’re blaming external factors instead of taking responsibility. Until you own your behaviours and beliefs, you’ll never succeed - because you’ll always find something to blame.
Yes, maybe your city is small. Maybe the weather sucks. Maybe people aren’t the friendliest. So what? I had all those same challenges. You go out and do it anyway.
Is it harder in some places? Sure. But guess what? It’s always going to be difficult. The difference is some guys push through it, and some guys use it as an excuse to do nothing.
And what’s the alternative? Sitting around, making excuses, and staying stuck?
You can do real life approaches in almost anywhere in the world. I mean, okay - if you live in an actual war zone, maybe don’t. But outside of extreme cases, there’s always a way.
If it’s cold, wear a jacket and go to a shopping mall. If people aren’t friendly, develop better social skills so you can warm them up. If you run into the same people - who cares? You’re not doing anything wrong. You’re just talking to people with good intentions.
And if you genuinely feel like you’ve outgrown your city? Move. It’s all in your control.
Stop making excuses and find solutions. That’s how your dating life improves.
