First off I'm surprised that I found this sub and that it still exists lmao

But back to my post I've been lurking and find a lot of the discussions interesting including ones about progressives sending men to the right, and I've had a thought stuck in my head that I kind of wanted to discuss.

If some politician or influencer came out and said that "a REAL woman cooks for her man/stays in the kitchen," or something along those lines I think its genuinely fair to assume that it would be met with nothing with rightful outrage from social media and even journalists. On the other hand if people say "a REAL man pays for the date/ring" etc, nobody would ever seem to be genuinely upset by it. I saw something similar to this on reddit about a woman on tiktok proposing to their boyfriend and a lot of the comments were full of women basically saying that it was a mans job or inadvertently saying that men were undeserving of such treatment and the comments on the reddit post were unexpectedly calm, like "Oh i dont know why people believe this" rather than calling them disgusting or sexist which you usually see on posts about men.

I'm also going to assume its a progressive ideal (correct me if im wrong) to get rid of gender roles and I'm sure some find them oppressive, it seems to me like liberals are supposed to be the live your life and freedom side of the political spectrum compared to cranky upset traditional conservatives and yet it seems like culture has it switched around. Lastly whenever something like this would ever be discussed most people, especially on reddit, would just cover their ears and yell incel, red pill, and misogynist and disregard the criticism. And I think that if things like this were was at least acknowledged it would go a lot further to prevent guys from going to the Andrew Tate's of the world because it makes it seem like they know its a double standard and have ideals/morals that would regard it as wrong but intentionally just don't care and only feeds into whatever the right would say about liberals hating men.

So as my title states, what do you guys think it would take to genuinely get progressives to acknowledge any sort of hypocrisies or double standards regarding gender roles and men, and is it even possible?
