Hey Guys,
Figured another father here may have dealt with this before.
Divorced going on two years now, we share joint legal and physical custody of our 5 year old son.
Everything going smooth up to this point - minimal contact with her, son doing ok health and emotionally wise.
All of a sudden I receive a message saying that he now has to wear glasses when I go to pick him up from school. He was perfectly fine prior to this, no issues related to his vision. She mention astigmatism. She gave very little details in terms of where he went for an eye test. I had to dig around and turns out she took him to a mall outfit (Lenscrafters and one of the doctors that work there). A very basic test was performed and they prescribed glasses.
I opted for a second opinion at a facility which specializes only in pediatric eyecare and to add their staff is essentially full of pediatric ophthalmologists. A clean bill of health after his eye exam, mild astigmatism but nothing that warrants wearing prescription glasses as his eyes are still developing and he has 20/20 Binocular vision.
The final result was to defer glasses and perform a routine checkup in a year. Perfect 20/20 Binocular VA vision.
Issue now is that she's insistent that he wears these glasses he doesn't need and I obviously am going by the specialist doctor's recommendation. When he's with me his eyes are beginning to hurt for a few hours when he removes these glasses.
Shes fighting me on this simply because I am opposed to it by reason of his vision being ok as per the very thorough exam - I mean ffs, put your hatred towards me on the side. any sane parent would be glad that their child does not need medical help.
My only option at this point is to get a judge to compel her not to force him to wear glasses he doesn't need. She's slowly conditioning him to believe that he has eye issues. This is insane.
