It's surprisingly difficult to get these people to critically evaluate their own logic. At what point does it become acceptable to conclude that they are fundamental illogical and driven primarily by emotional appeals?

If I say "women are gold diggers," that's a blanket statement about women as a demographic. Calling it sexist and saying "not all women" are appropriate responses. That is simple and obvious.

If I say "men are oppressive rape monsters," that's a blanket statement about men as a demographic. Calling it exist and saying "not all men" are appropriate responses. That is an impenetrable mystery utterly beyond the reach or mortal minds, apparently.

the problem with this is that nobody is saying all men are good. everybody knows there are bad people, so there's no need to say 'but not all of them!'. the only reason not all men should be used is when people are saying it is all men. nobody says all men are awesome.

As a man, if I said something that generalized all men and someone corrected me by saying"not all men," I would agree and continue making my point. This isn't the gotcha they think it is.
