Yes, gents, several times now, I've heard this come out of the mouth of an acquaintance who, unfortunately, spends a lot of time near my social circle. She desperately wants to be a mother, but she wants the father to have nothing to do with the baby. She doesn't even want him to know about the baby. (But if he finds out, I'm sure she'll demand child support and never let him see the kid.)

She is constantly working through her high school roster from 11 years ago (only 100 students in the whole school) and has purposely stopped taking the pill.

I don't know about you, but to me, "informed consent" means the other partner is informed. And she lies to them about being on birth control. Isn't that sexual violence now? It's no better than "stealthing."

She'd also be a terrible mother because:

  1. She sleeps all the time. She gets up, goes to work for 7.5 hours, comes home, and goes to sleep. She does a one-hour errand, comes home, goes to sleep. The only time she willingly gets out of bed is if it's to do something "fun." She is, far and away, the LAZIEST person I have EVER met.

  2. She's terrible at her job. She's a teacher, and I worked with her for one year. She gets terrible evaluations every year and has to look for other teaching jobs. Because she doesn't teach. She never plans lessons, never grades papers. She just sits in her classroom and the kids play board games, watch movies, and play with their phones. Because work is too much for her. So she has zero job stability or work ethic -- you know, the things that keep kids of single mothers off of welfare. Employers also don't usually like employees who blow through 15 sick days every year for no reason.

  3. She blows through ALL of her money every month, to the point that she can't afford her $800 mortgage on a $55k salary, so she has to have a roommate who pays $800/month. Every. single. day. she has something new from Temu, Amazin, Shein. Every day. Without fail. So she's not financially stable. But she wants to raise a kid.

  4. She has an untrained pit bull (what a shock), and the whole house smells like dog feet.

  5. She eats like a toddler. Nothing but candy, cookies, and ultra-processed garbage. In the three years I've known her, I've never seen her eat an actual meal with vegetables or anything that isn't insanely ultra-processed.

And this person wants a baby. And she "doesn't want to share." And she doesn't want to tell the guy that she's expecting HIS baby. And the wymxn of Reddit are ENCOURAGING HER to go down this path. That poor child. That poor man. But, silver lining: I can see a situation where she gets annoyed at having the responsibility of the baby and turns over custody to the father, and we all know that even the worst single fathers raise better-adjusted and happier kids than the best single mothers.

Oh, and when someone asked her about artificial insemination, she said she wants to do it the "old fashioned way" so she can pick someone who is tall (over 6', obviously) and "masculine" (a redneck, which, if you look at her roster, tracks).
