Im going to offer PPD my rarely bestowed upon intellect and inform you all that any variation of this question can be easily answered with this: People are surprised when something unexpected occurs. People don't expect things they do not have a reason to expect. People don't have a reason to expect something until it is given to them.

Men are surprised to hear about "X" thing because it is contradictory to intuition or, more applicably PPD, that men were told one thing about something and are now expected to know it is actually the opposite all of the sudden.

"Why are men surprised when they hear women like physically attractive men?"

Because you spent the last 10 years telling us looks dont matter
