I'm currently working for an international company based in Europe. For this job I have to travel all around the world and work with 90% Asian colleagues. To clarify, I'm an engineer and work with men only (I wouldn't call them that, though).

The work itself is great and I enjoy it a lot, but the people I work with are making me want to quit the job.

I'm still young and make mistakes, so I realize that the hostile environment that has been created is mainly my own fault. However I need a way to figure out how to make it work for the next 3-4 years regardless.

My colleague's at my home base are okay with me, but my Asian colleagues are not. They deem me as being too arrogant and disrespectful.

They've been sending emails around to management behind my back using my words against me and giving example of behavior without context. For example, one guy pisses me off to no end with extreme passive aggressive behavior and when I tell him to shut up and go away (while remaining calm) he flips out starts insulting me and writes about it without giving context to why I told him to shut up and go away.

2 More examples of their complaints to give you an idea: - I accidentally drop something on a small bubble leveler (very small cost item) and break the glass. I try to calm them down and tell them that it's just a bubble leveler and it doesn't matter that much (only thing I broke in a years time mind you). They then write about it saying that I'm very careless and don't care about the material. - They take everything literal. You can't make any jokes or use sarcasm because you'll have to spend the next 30 minutes trying to calm them down.

I heard all of this after I complained to my manager about them refusing to speak English while working. Their manager then sent a chain of emails to mine and he read them to me. Usually I maintain my frame, but in this case I got so pissed off that I was unable to and got visually upset in front of him.

The fact that they would go around telling all this to the entire management team and my manager + me being the last to hear about it pissed me off a lot. Maybe it's just me but if I have a problem with a person, then I'd talk with him privately and tell him what he's doing wrong and ask him to stop it etc.

I need advice on how to deal with this, because right now I've lost any remaining respect that I had for my "teammates". They've been ordered by management to make it work and I've been asked to do the same.

I want to note that there are also positive things: I'm a very hard worker and they recognize that I'm smart and will make a great engineer. People from my HQ who are higher up made effort to send out emails commending me on my work etc.
