This is probably the mother of all divorce rants but this pretty much counts as journaling my thoughts in a way.

So got to where the divorce was hashed out and came to fair agreements on splitting up our lives. Then a honest mistake I made back in June is the new land mine I just stepped on to start the friction all over again yesterday.

So long story as short as possible…… My wife moved out back in March leaving me with most responsibility with our teenage daughter and her knucklehead stepfather who has lived with us for years and needs help with something every time I turn around. ( he remembers everything he did at high school graduation parties in 1973, but can’t remember for more than 2 days how to login to his computer and understand what a “email” is. Besides the point!

But basically my life has consisted of raising our daughter primarily (who started 6 month probation term right before wife moved out), babysitting her stepfather and helping him get his life organized to move to Florida for good, assuming all the bills to the home we own, taking my daughter to probation & therapy appts, doing my own therapy appts, fixing and keeping the house in order etc….

Well in June while completely buried in all this chaos, I forgot to submit the mortgage payment on the house. 11 years, never missed a mortgage payment btw. Well, I didn’t realize it until I logged in July to pay that following month as usual and saw the missed June payment- and paid up both months, that very second no delay.

Fast forward to yesterday, future ex wife calls me livid that she was informed by this RV place she’s buying from to live in after the divorce- that her credit is in the 730s and turns out so is mine. We both had between 800-810 prior to that. Well turns out the mortgage company reported the missed payment late by 32 days to the bureaus and we took that steep of a hit.

Not asking for anyone to tell me it’s not my fault bc I made the mistake. But what bothered me was to be on the phone for at least an hour having my future ex crying and screaming that I fucked her life over, ruined her finances, did it on purpose….. & you name it.

I mean I hate to say it in this context but it’s not like I dropped us to like 500-600 or even below 650. I have been apologizing for being the cause of the credit hits, but to go into full DEFCON 1 about a credit score that’s still more than respectable and not financially crippling kinda bothers me. She acted yesterday like she just discovered I’ve been defaulting on the house for months, or taking out second mortgages and borrowing against the equity all against her knowledge. All I am guilty of I missed one payment I was confident I made like I always do and this is the result of that error.

I don’t know how to explain to her that the divorce chaos got in the way plus with all the things I’ve been juggling by myself since March and that it was an honest mistake.

Do I deserve to be treated as worthless and irresponsible as she’s acting towards me? It’s understandable she’s upset, but she’s really acting like it’s a death sentence.
