I have been screwed twice by lawyers. First, at the initial divorce, my selected lawyer left the firm before mediation and I was given some asshat who didn't even fight during the mediation. I ended up paying $3k/mo for 8 years, plus $160k in cash.

I then lost my job and couldn't pay the alimony so I then got a different lawyer to help me with the modification of divorce decree to make alimony stop or reduced.

I had to constantly ask for updates. He missed deadlines to object to interrogatories. He was making deals with the opposition without my knowledge. He failed to inform me that my deposition had been canceled.

The opposition filed a counter petition asking for even more alimony. My counsel didn't do or say anything about that counter.

I finally fired the counsel and proceeded pro se. Because of this ineffective counsel and that I missed all my deadlines to even mount a defense, I filed a motion to withdraw without prejudice.

The counter petition still is in effect.

I am ready to say fuck you to the entire process and just leave the country. Sure, contempt of court. Sure, I can't go back to UT (I'm in TX). Sure, garnishment of wages (but not if I don't work). I just want this fucking slavery to stop.
