Anyone here do an assumable mortgage?

I’m planning on assuming ours to keep my 2.87 rate. Haven’t done it yet but chase says it’s as simple as just getting approved for the loan on my own and a small fee for processing it all.

We are going thru this right now. The mortgage company (planet home lending) was not going to charge any fees, just some simple paper work, and inspection ($600) and the house would be 100% hers. But they ran her credit and she had a low score with 2 of the 3 and said they aaid try again in May. So now she's my tenant and she's gotta improve her score. Ironically this was her mom's house previously and we had assumed the mortgage from them going thru Fannie Mae. Same steps as I mentioned but I refied the house about 5 years into our marriage to lock in a 1.99% APR, so we got really lucky.

We tried the banks but it was to cumbersome and wanted to charge us a lot.

Call your mortgage company and look into qualified assumptions. Most lenders have very limited situations for assumption and divorce is usually one.
