It is because whoever this describes tend to live like they are walking on eggshells and that attitude doesn't make friends or lovers. Just think about it. If you live life like you are walking on eggshells, you are less likely to approach the opposite sex, then you are less likely to be a good flirter since spontaneity is a strong pillar of good flirting, time spent with you won't feel like an adventure, and you may be shy in bed and most people don't like that. It isn't that bad people are inherently liked more, it is rather that good people are less eager in the likeability game.
